Affiliate Marketing is a proven, hugely successful way to make money on the Web. In the simplest definition, it is the business of bringing together merchants (also called Advertisers) and consumers through an independent, third party Web site (also called a Publisher). A publisher places links to advertiser sites on their Web site. When a customer clicks on a link and buys the advertiser’s product or service the Publisher gets a commission. Sometimes you will hear Affiliate Marketing referred to as "Performance Marketing" and that is because Publishers get paid a commission only when a sale is made.
Anyone with a Web site, blog, or Internet presence can join LinkShare. You will also need to provide a valid mailing address (to receive payments) and tax information. It does not cost anything to join the LinkShare Network – join today!
LinkShare facilitates the Affiliate Marketing process by bringing together advertisers and publishers, tracking and reporting sales and commissions, and making commission payments to Publishers. As a publisher, you will have access to a Web application to apply to advertiser programs and then pick up links and banners that you can place on your Web site, blog, or in Emails. When you drive traffic to your site your audience will see these links and potentially click on them and make a purchase which will earn you a commission. There is no limit to how much money (or commissions) you can earn.
Advertisers pay LinkShare and then LinkShare in turn pays publishers their commissions. Our standard payment terms require LinkShare's advertisers to pay by the end of the calendar month once their invoice is posted. In order to ensure that publishers are paid promptly and quickly LinkShare issues four publisher payments per month.
There are millions of publishers offering their visitors different ways to purchase through their site. Some of the more popular affiliate business models are listed in the LinkShare Publisher Help Center.
