We are on the cusp of Spring and to complement the new beginnings of the forthcoming season, we have some exciting new campaigns, events, advertisers and tools for you! Registration continues for the first ever LinkShare Symposium UK to be held in London this April! This is a great opportunity for you to forge new partnerships and grow relationships within the UK network. To get a head start before Symposium, there are plenty of opportunities to grow relationships immediately by getting involved in campaigns including Mother's Day, and our ongoing 2009 campaign - Green Season! Announcing the new Publisher Dashboard Deep Link Interface!
On March 10th we released a new Deep Linking interface in the Dashboard. You can use this feature to create LinkShare tracking links to any page on an Advertiser's site.

In order for an Advertiser to support this feature they must be enabled for LinkBuilder. The functionality of this tool is similar to that of LinkBuilder, except now you can create deep links for multiple advertisers all in one place.


Using the new interface is easy:

  1. In a new tab, navigate to a page on an advertiser site you'd like to link to
  2. Select the advertiser from the drop down
  3. Choose your output format. You can create just a tracking link, a text link, or an image link. If an image link, input the image URL
  4. If you'd like to append a U1 value, enter the U1
  5. Hit Create Link

Other Deep Linking Options - Bookmarklet
The "bookmarklet" tool makes it much easier to use the LinkGenerator service to create a commission-paying link for any merchant with whom you are partnered. Think of a bookmarklet as a web browser bookmark with some built-in functionality. For example, many social sites use bookmarklets to allow users to share sites from around the web. This tool will make it easier than ever to create deep links on an advertisers site, without having to log in to the publisher dashboard. The tool will only work with advertisers you are partnered with, and sales generated will report as LinkBuilder links. Please note that this is just a beta tool that we are testing. When the bookmarklet has passed the testing stage successfully, we'll launch it to a wide audience; this may require you to "rebuild" the bookmarklet.
Easy Install:
  1. Get your token from your LinkShare account on this page.
  2. Paste it in the Token box on this page.
  3. This will turn into a link when you input a token with 64 characters. In Firefox drag this link to your toolbar. In IE, right-click and add to favorites.
Generate Link Code:
  1. Look for items by browsing through the websites of your partners. (This will only work if you're approved by the merchant.)
  2. Click on the LinkGenerator button that you just created on your toolbar.
  3. A window with the URL will appear. You can cut and paste it wherever you like. The link code that is generated will be instantly updated in our database and will redirect the user to the product page immediately.
  4. When your readers click on this link, they'll be taken to the partner's page and you'll receive a commission when they purchase.

What's in a Link?

Have you ever wondered, what's in a link? A link is a link, is a link. But by any other name, will it still track your commissions? Let's take a look. Here is a typical example:

Now let's break it down.

This identifies the link as coming from LinkShare.

?id=KgGHO0LswUU
This is your unique, 11-digit Publisher code, which was assigned to you when you registered as a LinkShare Publisher. If you get a link from within your account in the LinkShare interface, this id automatically populates.

&offerid=85078.10058801
Before the decimal, the numbers indicate the specific offer that your link identifies. After the decimal, the numbers track clicks and may also indicate the landing page to which the link goes.
