PRODUCT UPDATE | MAY 2008
By Ian Rosenwach, LinkShare Corporation

In order to better reflect the growing and diverse nature of our Publisher base, LinkShare has recently expanded its list of Publisher Categories. We have reviewed and placed every publisher in our network into this new framework, so all of your partners are now in their new categories.
We want to remind you to please review your Affiliate Application Filter in the Affiliates section of your account to make sure it still accurately reflects your preferences. You will see the new, more comprehensive category list there. Your previous selections have been mapped over, but you may want to add some of the new, more descriptive categories. As you know, only affiliates that meet your criteria will be able to apply for your program.
You will also see some of the new categorization reflected in the Find New Affiliates tool in the Affiliates section of your account. Affiliate prospecting is even more targeted now! Use the Find New Affiliates tool to locate relevant, new Publishers to partner with.

Below you'll find a diagram of how the old categories map to the new:

- The Personal Home Page category has been merged into a new Blog/Social Networking category. Blogs and social networks can be effective ways to reach niche audiences that may be interested in your products or services.
- We've broken out the Mature/Adult category into two new categories – Adult and Senior.
- The Other, Regional, and Science categories have been consolidated into Other.
- Arts, Entertainment, and Society & Culture have been consolidated into Arts & Entertainment.
We hope you'll find these new categories helpful and more in line with the rest of your online media program.
