| Deep Link Controls Deep Linking refers to Publishers manually creating links to “deep pages” on your site, i.e. pages besides the home page. Deep linking helps Publishers to drive their traffic to the most targeted page, and hence increases the likelihood of a sale!
Certain Advertisers sell products on their site from brands and manufacturers which Advertisers do not have the rights to market in the Affiliate Marketing channel. This has prevented them from enabling deep linking. This is the exception rather than the rule, as most Advertisers do not face these restrictions. But it is a special case that we have been aware of and saw an opportunity to meet a customer need. Starting in February we will be offering a new feature that gives Advertisers with these marketing restrictions the ability to still benefit from deep linking. With Deep Link Controls, Advertisers can still be enabled for Deep Linking if they are subject to these restrictions.
We will have several methods for Advertisers to control pages being promoted by Publishers:
- Individually approve Publishers for deep link access
- Exclude URL’s with regular expressions from being accessed via Deep Linking
- A regular expression is a certain part of a URL, such as “&brand=”. If the products your Publishers can’t promote are all found on pages with a certain regular expression, that can be specified in the LinkShare system.
- Exclude specific URL’s from being accessed via Deep Linking
- This means that the entire URL would be excluded, as opposed to a regular expression found in the URL.
Please not that options 2 and 3 depends on how your site URL’s are constructed. Please work with your LinkShare Account Manager to identify if this is an option for you.
If this is a feature you might be interested in, please contact your LinkShare Account Manager.
