The Importance of Default Creative

Creative Begin and End Date is a new feature LinkShare rolled out in the past year. This allows you to assign a start date and an end date to your creative. Use this feature to ensure that out-of-date promotions are not being displayed on your Publisher sites.

Here is where you’ll see the option for begin and end date when uploading and managing your creative inventory:

But what happens once the end date arrives?

This is where your default creative comes into play. After the end date, your default creative will be displayed on the Publisher site instead of the piece of creative they placed there. This gives you and your Publishers the ability to prevent out-of-date promotions from appearing on the Publisher site.

Here is where you configure you’re default creative in the Interface:

Follow these simple steps to configure your default creative:

    1. Select Default Creative in your Interface
    2. Choose options for Text, Banner, DRM, and Creative Campaign
    3. This default creative will be used after the Creative end date
Now you can fully utilize Start/End Date to effectively manage your time-sensitive promotions!

* Important Note on Image Hosting: If LinkShare hosts your creative, then the default creative image will appear once the end date has passed. However, this feature will not work the same way if you are hosting your creative on your own servers. The landing page will update to the default landing page, but the banner image will remain the same.
* Note on text links: When the end date for a text link has passed, the actual text copy won’t change but the landing page will update to your default text link landing page.
