With summer over and kids back in school, now is the perfect time to start preparing for that all-important Q4 shopping season, get our 5 Tips to Prepare for Q4. Beginning September 1, data prior to September 1, 2005 will ONLY be available in SynergyAnalytics. With Halloween approaching, get your share of the almost $5 billion that is spent on Halloween with our suggested advertisers.


5 Tips to Prepare for Q4

Fourth quarter can be a stressful and hectic time for everyone. That is why now is the perfect time to prepare for your site for Q4. Below are some tips to help you get ready and have one of the best holiday shopping seasons!

  1. Run Reports – Run a Sales and Activity report and look for the advertisers that have done well for you in the past 3, 6 and 12 months. This will help identify your top partners and determine which advertisers to give prominent site placement to during Q4. It is also a good idea to review the Individual Item Report to identify the types of products your users are buying.
  2. Join Programs – Are you looking for new advertisers? Is there a particular product that you would like to promote in Q4? Go to the Join Programs tab in the LinkShare interface, search for a specific advertiser or look for new advertisers based on product categories. Remember electronics, apparel, media and toys are popular gifts!
  3. Watch Your Inbox for Holiday Promotions & Newsletters – Again this year, we will be putting together a special Holiday Deal Dispatcher featuring holiday promotions, last ship dates and best practices. Throughout Q4, advertisers tend to send out more communications highlighting special publisher and consumer promotions.
  4. Create a Q4 Marketing Calendar – By creating a marketing calendar you can better prepare your site promotions and email campaigns. When creating your calendar keep in mind holiday dates, last ship dates, advertiser promotions and product seasonality. For example, promote travel sites in October, free shipping offers in November and advertisers that offer electronic gift cards in December for last minute gifts.
  5. Check Your Links – It is always good to check your links to make sure they are going to the right pages and your creative is up-to-date. All advertisers’ creative links have a start and end date - pay attention to end dates so you always have the most current creative. Another option you may want to consider is looking for advertisers that offer Dynamic Rich Media or DRM links. For more on using DRM go to the Publisher Resource Center.


Historical Data Moving from Interface Reporting System

Beginning September 1, 2007 all historical data prior to August 31, 2005 will ONLY be available in SynergyAnalytics. Reducing the amount of data in the Interface Reporting System will improve the processing speed of your reports. Going forward each month, we will remove one month’s worth of historical data from the Interface Reporting System. For example, on October 1, 2007, you will not be able to view data prior to September 30, 2005. Please see the Inside the Interface article for more on how to view your historical data in SynergyAnalytics.




Using the Network Transaction Analysis Report in SynergyAnalytics
The Network Transaction Analysis Report in SynergyAnalytics provides the same data as the Sales and Activity Report in the Interface Reporting System. Follow the steps below on how to run this useful report:

  1. Click on the SynergyAnalytics logo in the upper left corner of the LinkShare interface.
  2. Select your Time Period from the dropdown box at the top of the SynergyAnalytics interface. If you want to see data older than 1 year, select All Choices, Select a Date Range, and then hit Go.
  3. Go to the Net. Trans. Historical Trend Analysis chart.
  4. Click on any of the months to see your Network Transaction Performance Detail Analysis.





Scare Up Some Halloween Sales

More and more US consumers are celebrating Halloween, from handing out candy to decorating to dressing in costumes. Last year Americans spent $4.96 billion on Halloween, or an average of $59.06 per-person, according a National Retail Federation (NRF) Survey, conducted by BIGresearch.
