LinkShare Anti-Predatory Advertising Addendum
LinkShare Corporation has recently released an affiliate agreement addendum which supplements the LinkShare Affiliate Agreement that commits affiliates to comply with terms that prohibit the company from blocking, altering, substituting, redirecting, etc. any click-throughs that originate from a LinkShare NetworkTM affiliate site. Some shopping technologies, such as tool bars, browser plug-ins, ewallets and shopping bots, have been known to interfere with the click-through that identifies the affiliate referring a sale or lead, thereby "hijacking" the commissions. Such predatory advertising activities diminish the principles of the affiliate marketing model, which is based upon rewarding the partner that actually refers the sale.

LinkShare created this addendum to address recent industry concerns on ethical marketing in the affiliate community and the legitimacy of certain affiliates in the LinkShare Network. We are pleased to announce that most of the key players have signed this addendum.

"The Internet has fueled the growth of new technologies and applications, and we will continue to see innovation into the future. We're also seeing new technologies that have either crossed the boundaries of ethical application or created gray areas in the legal landscape, we hope to demonstrate a firm stance on ethical marketing and to foster respect for the affiliate community and the efforts of LinkShare affiliates," stated Stephen Messer, Chairman and CEO of LinkShare Corporation.
