LinkShare DRM: Overview & Benefits
Rather than spend your time updating promotions and links every week (or leaving links that go to expired offers), be smart, and take advantage of dynamic promotions and links available from merchants using LinkShare's Dynamic Rich Media ("LinkShare DRM") links. They save you time because the merchant updates the promotions featured in these links.
Copy & paste code once!
Generally, traditional links - banner, text, product - require you to change your linking code every time a merchant makes an update. This happens because changing a banner or the text in a link generally causes a change in the linking code. As a result, the code you copied and pasted last week (or yesterday) is no longer current. To make sure the consumer promotions you're featuring are always up to date, you have to copy and paste code over and over.
However, with LinkShare DRM links a merchant can update the link over and over, but the linking code never changes. Instead, the linking code always refers to the latest content a merchant has provided for the link. The result? You just have to copy and paste the code once, and you're done.
Why is this so important?
First, you'll save time, and as the saying goes, time is money. Second, and perhaps more important, if you use LinkShare DRM links, the promotions will be up to date with the merchants' latest site updates. You won't have to worry about expired offers, coupons, sales, or other promotions. You won't have to worry if a page no longer exists or if a product has sold out.

Sample Affiliate Linking Code
This is an example of the script* portion of the LinkShare DRM code:
<script
src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?
id=lMh2Xiq9xN0&bids=52439.720&catid=38
&gridnum=0&type=14&subid=0"></script>
Unlike traditional links, no matter how often the merchant changes the content of the link (text, images, etc.), the LinkShare DRM code never changes. This means you never have to update this link to feature the latest promotion.
*LinkShare DRM code contains a "script" portion and a "noscript" portion. The script portion, which contains the link the merchant created, executes in a browser when scripts are enabled (default setting). The noscript portion, which refers to that merchant's banner, will execute as a failsafe if scripts are disabled.

As you know, consumers get frustrated by all of these problems and many times will abandon a site if a link features a promotion that has already expired. And during the holidays, consumers are less patient, which increases the importance of your links being accurate.
Some merchants, such as Orbitz, provide advanced tools that they couldn't otherwise provide through traditional links, such as a multi-reservation tool, which allows consumers to choose from air, hotel, or cars in one link and fill out the relevant fields to begin a reservation from your site! Overstock.com provides links that dynamically update bestsellers in almost every category on their site, as well as a dynamic deal of the week link.
Better for consumers = Better for you
These links help you because they help consumers by providing additional value, whether through content or functionality. This can translate into higher conversions, more sales, and more commissions for you, all while you're saving time!
