Senior Oracle Database Administrator (contract to hire) (Tampa)
Release Engineer

Responsibilities:
Variety of challenging projects and technologies, combined with fast-pace environment, will allow you to maintain and advance your skills significantly.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Primary support of development, staging and QA databases, 24X7 on-call support on rotation basis.
• Work with development teams to provide Oracle and MySQL Architecture Design expertise including capacity planning, schema design, storage, RAC application design with the ability to offer solutions for high availability, disaster recovery and scalability.
• Support of monthly production deployments, patching and upgrades.
• Effective collaboration with external production DBA group.

Required Skills:
As a Senior DBA with 10+ years of the full range of Oracle technologies (e-Commerce experience preferred) you will bring the expertise in most of the following types of projects:

• Managing large (over 8 TB) OLTP and OLAP environments, hands-on experience with compression, partitioning and archiving.
• Oracle and MySQL database architecture, installation, configuration, tuning, review, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on Oracle 11g RAC or Exadata with emphasis on performance tuning in a Data Warehouse environment.
• Database Backup and Recovery solutions including RMAN, Backup Scripts and SAN based backups.
• Data refresh/cloning from production to pre-production environments.
• Strong Programming skills including at a minimum: Unix Shell Scripting, PL/SQL.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to present findings and recommendations to both management and application development teams.
• MS degree in Computer Science preferred, others considered.

Responsible for ongoing software builds and deployments into the QA and Production environments.  Provide timely reporting and issue escalation and lead configuration management process improvement and automation initiatives supporting multiple projects and applications deployments in our software deployment life cycle.

Summary Description:
This is an integral role on the Quality Assurance & Release Management team.  You will be working closely with the Project Management team, System Development team, and Operations Team on deployment plans.  You will also be working with all members of the Technology Team and members of our various Business Teams.  If you are a people person, this is the job for you!
 
Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ongoing software builds for various applications
• Schedule and coordinate deployments into the QA environments
• Schedule and coordinate deployments into the Production environments
• Provide timely reporting metrics
• Provide appropriate issue escalation
• Lead process improvement initiatives for configuration management needs
• Lead process automation initiatives for configuration management needs

 Requirements:

• 3-5 years experience with version control and change management tools and methodology
• Experience with branching, tagging, merging configuration management concepts using at least 2 toolsets (CVS, PVCS, ClearCase, Git, etc.) on UNIX and Windows NT/2000/XP platforms
• Familiarity with ITIL (or similar) industry standard
• Ability to implement solutions in one or more scripting language (PHP, Perl, Shell, etc.)
• Strong Internet domain experience (Java, Apache, PHP, SQL, HTML, etc.)
• Strong understanding of Relational Databases (managing DDL and DML changes)
• Familiar with Java deployment (EARs, WARs, JREs) and Java webservers such as WebSphere and Tomcat
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interface with multiple teams and multiple levels of management
